  1. Does submitting the request to get student college email account cost me money?

    1. Nothing at all.
  2. Why my Student College Email Account has been deactivated?

    1. Student College Email Accounts are only for current students and get deactivated after one(1) quarter if a person is no longer enrolled in any classes.
    2. If you are a Student-Employee you can not keep both .edu email addresses. Your Employee email account will take over.
  3. Why I don't see the "Submit Request" link to send my request for student college email account?

    There might be one of these reasons. If none of these apply to you please contact A&R for further assistance.
    1. You are not an active/registered student in the current term.
    2. You have been a former district employee and you have already had a "@fhda.edu" email account on record.
    3. You have just registered for a class and need to wait at least five (5) hours before you can request an email address.
  4. How would I submit my request to get a "Student College Email Account"?

    1. Go to MyPortal and locate the "Student College Email " tile.


    2. Please READ and follow the instruction on the new page that opens up in your browser to avoid any future issue\s.
    3. After clicking on the second confirm button your request will be submitted.
  5. How long after submission of my request, I would be assigned an account?

    1. Usually it would take less than twenty-four(24) hours.
  6. How would I be notified that my account has been generated?

    1. You will receive an email to your Primary/Personal email address to get notified.
    2. If you have not received a notification email at your primary email address within twenty-four (24) hours of submitting your Student Email Application, please come back to the Student College Email page in MyPortal and try the Login link.
  7. Will the school's emails and notifications go to my Student College Email Account after I got my student college email set up?

    1. The school's emails and notifications will go to the email account that YOU have set it up as your Primary/Preferred Email Address. It could be your Student College Email Account or any other.
    2. In order to change your Primary Email Address:
      1. Go to Myportal.
      2. Locate the "Student Registration" tile.
      3. Find the link "Update my personal information" in "My Profile" section.
      4. Click on "View Email Address" link.
      5. Update the email address as needed.
  8. How can I verify my email address?

    1. To verify your email address if you did not receive your confirmation email or for any other reason, please click on your profile icon in the top right part of the Outlook window and click on View Account.
  9. My email address is incorrect and is showing as cwid@fhda.edu when I log in to my account; how do I get it fixed?

    1. There is nothing wrong with your account. cwid@fhda.edu is your Microsoft account username and your email address is unaffected.
    2. You must always enter user@fhda.edu into the Email, phone, or Skype field on any website/app asking for your Microsoft account login information (e.g. Microsoft 365, Office, Outlook, etc.). Do not worry about it showing cwid@fhda.edu after you log in. That is your Microsoft account username, and your email address is unaffected. The student email address given to you in your confirmation email, which should match what you requested unless it was unavailable, is what people will see when they receive email from you, and the cwid@fhda.edu address should not be given out as your email address. To verify your email address if you did not receive your confirmation email or for any other reason, please click on your profile icon in the top right part of the Outlook window and click on View Account.
  10. How do I log in to my Student College Email Account?

    1. Try to log in, at least one hour, after you receive the notification email to your personal email address. Your attempt may fail before that.
    2. Go to MyPortal and locate the "Student College Email" tile.
    3. In the "Login to Your Email Account" section,  click on "Login" link.
    4. If Login link doesn't take you directly to your Microsoft 365 account please enter user@fhda.edu on the login page that Microsoft 365 brings up.
    5. You will see the list of Microsoft applications that has been provided to you by the college. Look for the "Outlook" application.
    6. After you click on the "Outlook" logo, it takes you to your INBOX.

  11. I am trying to log in to a Microsoft website/app, but when I enter my student college email address into the "Email, phone, or Skype" field, I get an error message similar to "This username may be incorrect. Make sure you typed it correctly. Otherwise, contact your admin.".

    1. You must always enter user@fhda.edu into the Email, phone, or Skype field on any website/app asking for your Microsoft account login information (e.g. Microsoft 365, Office, Outlook, etc.).   12. What is the password for my Student College Email Account?

    1. The same password as what you use with your Student ID/CWID to log in to MyPortal.
    2. The easiest way to log in to your account is using the "Login" link.(Question8)
  13. Can I change my Student College Email Account password?

    1. No. Since your Student College Email Account password is the same as your Student ID/CWID password, it will be affected by what you have chosen as your CWID password.
  14. Is it possible to choose what I like as my email alias? e.g, myFirstName@student.deanza.edu

    1. No, it is not possible. It is the same pattern for all students which is: LasNameFirstName@student.foothill/deanza.edu
    2. You may choose your preferred First Name if you have it already on your record confirmed with A&R, as it has been described in the request form, NOTE section. That your email address will be : LastNamePrefferedFirstName@student.foothill/deaza.edu
  15. How to set up my student college email account on iPhone?

    2. In the step 2 of instructions you must enter user@fhda.edu as your email account.  
  16. I am no longer an employee, what email address do I use as a college student?

  17.     You will need to continue using your employee @fhda.edu email address. Once you have been assigned an employee @fhda.edu email address it cannot be changed even if you leave employment.
