+New -> New Page (w/left nav)
Use this option to create a new file that has a side nav.
If you are inside a folder and create a new file with left nav, all the files(including the file itself) inside the folder will show up on the side nav. If you start the file name with underscore("_"), that file will be excluded from the side nav.
- Page Title: pick a title for the page. It will appear on the page with the side nav.
- Keywords: these keywords are important when it comes to search the page on the web.
- Description: add a short description.
- Filename: this name will appear in the URL of this page. Follow a name based on the convention has been described on the window. (I picked the filename 'test-fullwidth' and it appears in the URL http://ets.fhda.edu/test/test-fullwidth.html)
- Click on 'Create'.
This page will open. Notice some elements of the page.
- Marquee: We have called, the top dark blue ribbon on the page, the 'Marquee'. Its color will change based on the accent color of your department. To edit Marquee content:
- Click on the light bulb on the top of the page to turn its color to yellow.
- Then, click on 'Properties'.
- In the 'Page Parameters', in the 'Custom Settings' section, edit the marquee parameters.
- Marquee Heading: will appear on the ribbon as the first word before the colon ':'
- Marquee Text: will appear on the ribbon as the second word/s after the colon ':'
- Marquee: leave it as is, 'Yes' to be selected.
- Page Accent Color: this is the color that has been chosen based on departments and it has to be consistent website wide. ('Technology' is for ETS) You usually don't nee to change it.
- Notice the red square on the left side of the page. It is where the left nav will appear after you publish the page, on the live page.
For example, this is what I have inside the "test" folder.
And this is what I see after publishing the page. Notice that pages with underscore at the beginning of the file name are showing up in the side nav.
The title I have picked for the page is being displayed on the side nav.
